The form filled by parents at first-grader enrolment in primary schools contains questions on the child’s national identity, the number of people who live in its household and in its room, means of transportation to school, marital status, education, type of employment and job of its mother and father.

The Commissioner for Information of Public Importance, Rodoljub Sabic has said to Beta Agency that he has already warned the Ministry of Education about irregularities regarding collection of such data.

- Parents should protect their integrity and the child’s integrity in school administration. Of course it is necessary to provide basic data on the child to be enrolled to school, and it will certainly be done, but also everyone who asks for more data definitely has to be asked to explain the reason why- Sabic has said.

He has pointed out that in order to create a unique information system as a student database, which is the aim of data collection, it is necessary for the state to legally regulate what the system is, which type of data and in which manner it is to be entered into the system, and how to collect and protect it.

-Until that happens, it remains a very risky, provisional endeavor that we should not be proud of. Every piece of personal data is delicate- he has said.

The data collected at enrolment of children to first grade of primary school, including their processing, publishing and use are in accordance with the Law on Personal Data Protection, the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Serbia claim. The Coordinator of the Department for Information and Documentation Operations of the Ministry of Education, Vinko Kovacevic, yesterday said that parents do not have the obligation to fill in all data required in the form.
