Commissioner Milan Marinović and Deputy Commissioner Sanja Unković, on the second day of their stay in Brussels at the conference "Data Protection in the Western Balkans and Eastern Partnership Region", as part of a delegation of competent authorities from the Western Balkans and Eastern Europe, first visited the headquarters of the European Data Protection Supervisor (EDPS) where the representatives of that institution introduced them to its organization of work, practice and future action plans of this important authority engaged in personal data protection within the EU institutions.
After that, they stayed at the headquarters of the European Data Protection Board (EDPB), which gathers competent authorities dealing with personal data protection in the EU member states, where they attended the plenary session of the Board, during which all delegations presented their organization, competences, and challenges they face in personal data protection. We especially emphasize that this was the first time that the plenary session of the European Data Protection Board was attended this way by representatives of authorities engaged in personal data protection from countries that are not members of the Board. The Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection has had the status of an observer on the Board since its establishment in 2018.
