PDPL Training for Local Ombudsmen in July
Part of the "Partnership for Good Local Self-Government" project
As part of the meeting of the “Network of Networks of Local Ombudsmen”, a two-day training on the implementation of the Law on Personal Data Protection was successfully held in Niš.
Lecturers of the Office of the Commissioner, Aleksandar Kocić Ranđelović and Marko Milošević, held a training on the implementation of this Law on 2 and 3 July 2026 to bring the protection of this right closer to local ombudsmen. 20 people attended this training organized by the Standing Conference of Cities and Municipalities in Niš as part of the “Partnership for Good Local Self-Government” project, supported by the Government of Switzerland and the OSCE Mission to Serbia.
The principles of the law, legal bases, individual rights, and protection measures were presented via illustrative examples from practice, and possible abuses as well. Interacting with local ombudsmen, it was noted that citizens sometimes contact them regarding rights under the Commissioner’s jurisdiction, and they found the training’s content interesting for improving their own activities as well.
The successful implementation of this training represents an important step in strengthening the capacity of local governments, raising the level of legal certainty, and ensuring more efficient protection of the right to data protection of all citizens of Serbia.
