MERRY-GO-ROUND
Comments
Rodoljub Sabic, Commissioner for Information
Investigating the consequences of explosion of the ammunition warehouse near Paracin, journalist S. R. asked from the Ministry in charge the information about remedying of the damage in school institutions. He also asked for the copies of the Minutes on Evaluation of Damage and Technical Reception of Works and copies of the Contracts on Works on Remedy. He received information that this is about the works worthy around 140 million dinars, but not the copies. In the answer it stood that it was not possible, because the „documents are with the body of local self-government, as well as in the body of the Administrative District“.He turned to both those addresses, and received answers. In the answer from the District it is quoted that the documents „were not ever and are not now in the District“. The municipality also replied that they have no documents, that „the municipal headquarters didn't perform remedy of the damage on school institutions“, and according to their knowledge „the remedy has been accomplished in the organization of the Ministry in charge“. Merry-go-round on which S. R. went around should be stopped at once. The responsible persons should know that both the Law on Free Access to Information, and the obligation to protect at least minimum of the authority of state bodies order that documents should be made available to the public.
