Right to live
ExpiredInformation about poisoned Pančevo atmosphere have well shaken our public. Some kind of benefit from these shocking data could be that they inevitably remind us that in organized and responsible societies in such situations they extremely consistently apply measures like criminal responsibility or prohibition of work of the polluter. It would be useful if they could remind us about the importance of timely insight of the public into information of importance for probably the most important human right, the right to live and the right to be healthy. It is also that way according to our Law on Free Access to Information.
Information about the health of people and environment should be available to the public on each request, but they belong to the circle of the kind of information, the power should make public even when no-one is individually asking for them.
It is high time that the responsible persons, finally, start doing so. If they do not know how, then - for the start - at least by turning on sirens. But, of course, in due time, not when the pollution becomes multiple times greater than the allowed.
