The Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Serbia has delivered a letter regarding the method of communication of the District Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade with the Independent Association of the Journalists of Serbia regarding the case of death of lady journalist Dada Vujasinovic to the Secretariat of the Government of Serbia, in order to inform themselves about the contents.  That letter has been sent to the Minister of Justice by the Commissioner for Information of Public Importance, Mr.  Rodoljub Sabic, and he has supported in it with facts the statement that the Prosecutor's Office is using untrue information in its official communication.

The Ministry of Justice replied that, in replying to the question of “Danas” daily, the letter from the Trustee for Information of Public Importance was not delivered to the Government of Serbia with the other letters related to the mentioned case, that the mentioned letter arrived just on 13th November, so it could not have been delivered to the Government of Serbia like the other correspondence, but subsequently.  Otherwise, the letter has been sent from the Trustee's Office on the 1st of November.

When asked if something shall be undertaken regarding the factual statements of the Trustee for Information of Public Importance that the Prosecutor's Office is using untruthful information in its official correspondence, the Ministry of Justice replied that "in this way, it has done everything within its authority in relation to the mentioned case and it has no authority to influence the contents of the Prosecutor's reply!

We shall remind you that  “Danas” wrote that in the letter sent by the District Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade to the Ministry of Justice, in which our daily had an insight, it has been quoted that the Prosecutor's Office has informed NUNS (Independent Association of Journalists of Serbia) "that the  proceedings is in the phase of preliminary criminal proceeding, that the potential perpetrator of the criminal act regarding the death of  Radoslava Vujasinovic has not been discovered... that the other data related to information linked to preliminary criminal proceedings and which represent the official secret can not be delivered". The same letter clearly states that the requested information have been also delivered to the Commissioner for Information of Public Importance. But, in reply to  NUNS and the Trustee in which  journalist of  “Danas” daily had an insight, not one word is mentioned about the preliminary criminal proceedings, or the potential perpetrator of the criminal act, or official secret.

The second disputable detail is the explanation by the Prosecutor's Office to the Commissioner for Information of Public Importance who requested from the Prosecutor's Office to inform him about the execution of the Decision he has passed based on the appeal of NUNS. By that Decision he orders the Prosecutor's Office to make the requested information available to the public. In the letter to the Commissioner, the Prosecutor's Office claims that they have replied to the Trustee's request already on the 16th August, which according to Sabic's words is not true. In reply to the Commissioner the Prosecutor's Office has enclosed as a proof, a copy of postal delivery receipt, however addressed to the Belgrade Human Rights Center, which doesn't have anything to do with the correspondence between the Commissioner and the Prosecutor's Office.

Editorial office of “Danas” daily asked the District Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade to explain why it has in the letter to the Minister of Justice stated that NUNS and Commissioner for Information of Public Importance have received the quoted information, if they are not present in the letters sent to them!? We have also asked for explanation on how it happened that as a proof a mail delivery receipt has been sent, with address that does not have anything to do with the Office of Commissioner for Information of Public Importance, but we didn't receive any answer until final compilation of this issue.

Lady journalist Radoslava Dada Vujasinovic has tragically died in her apartment in Belgrade 12 years ago, under still unclear conditions. The case is still in the phase of preliminary criminal proceeding. R. Femic
