Commissioner for Information of Public Importance Rodoljub Šabić has today in  Boljevac participated in the work of the round table  - seminar on the topic of freedom to access information. The gathering was intended to  education of journalists, media and civil society representatives on the local level, and it has been organized in cooperation with the Belgrade Human Rights Center. The Commissioner has stressed in turning to participants, that the ideas of open society and controlled power are integral and that it is very important for further democratization to implement those things on all levels.  Stressing that in the work of the government on the local level there are numerous topics evading the attention of big media and the widest public, and which are of great importance for the citizens of the local communities, the  Commissioner evaluated that unallowably often public lacks documented information on those topics, and that the attempts to reach them are equally often facing different resistances.  

Commissioner for information of Public Importance Rodoljub Šabić was today in  Niš, where he participated in two gatherings dealing in the freedom to access information.

Commissioner spoke in Media Center with a large number of journalists, media and NGO representatives about the contents of the analysis that has been performed by a group of Slovenian experts within monitoring of implementation of our Law on Access to Information, organized in cooperation with the American Lawyers Association - Initiative for the Rule of Law (ABA/CEELI).

The Commissioner for Information of Public Importance met in Novi Sad in the Independent Association of the Journalists of Vojvodina, within the Program for the education of journalists, which is realized with the OSCE Mission in Serbia, with a big group of journalists to discuss the issue of the materialization of free access to information. While pointing out that journalists and mass media can give a big contribution to a more successful transition course, Commissioner Rodoljub Šabić pointed out in particular:

Commissioner for Information has participated in Belgrade Media Center in the work of the gathering organized by the Association of American Lawyers - Initiative for the Rule of Law (ABACEELI), dedicated to the presentation of the analysis of the Law on Free Access to Information, as well as of results of research on Law application.
