The Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection enclosed with his letter to the Minister of Justice and the Serbian Government the Model Law on Personal Data Protection prepared by the Commissioner's Office.
The Commissioner has emphasized on several occasions that previous postponements and further delays in efforts to regulate this delicate field of human rights will certainly result in the increase of the already numerous existing problems. He emphasized this again recently in his letter sent to the Serbian Prime Minister.
Although it is not the Commissioner's duty, he publicly pledged to substantially contribute to the development of the new Law on Personal Data Protection and he kept his pledge by preparing the Model Law.
The Commissioner is confident that the Model Law he submitted to the Government could provide a sound basis for the new Law on Personal Data Protection which is necessary in Serbia.
