The Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection Rodoljub Sabic hosted today the Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights Nils Muiznieks and his delegation. In a long discussion the Commissioner informed the Council of Europe Commissioner about the development and results of the institution of the Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection and the situation in the field of free access to information and personal data protection.
The Council of Europe Commissioner expressed interest in the scope of activities and a high degree of effectiveness of Commissioner's interventions. In addition, he showed particular interest in several topics such as the process of withdrawal of the state from media ownership and transparency of the state participation in the media market, problems of the media and the general public in accessing all information relevant to the detection and prosecution of war crimes and normative (de) regulation of the personal data protection.
The Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights pointed out that the problems pertaining to personal data protection certainly have to become very topical issue in Serbia.
