The Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection said that it is necessary and in a letter sent to the minister of internal affairs he appealed to the Ministry of Internal Affairs to publish complete relevant details of the suicide case that happened 22 years ago in an apartment of the current Ombudsman Sasa Jankovic.
In this context the Commissioner also stated the following:
"Yesterday, regarding the allegations that the suicide was committed with a "non-legal" gun belonged to Sasa Jankovic, I said that it is necessary to put an end, as soon as possible, to this gripping and harmful story, and appealed to the Ministry of Internal Affairs to publish all data on the ownership of this gun.
It is good that the Ministry responded to the appeal and published documents which fully beyond controversy confirm that the weapon was perfectly legal.
The Ministry, however, referring to me, even though my suggestion related to the disclosure of those documents which prove that the allegations of non-legality of the weapon were completely unfounded, in addition to the data on the weapon, also published a number of other documents from criminal investigation.
Doing so, it remains unclear why all, complete documents from the criminal investigation were not disclosed, since it can, at least in a small part of the public, result in keeping unnecessary dilemmas and ambiguities.
Given the importance of the complete truth and the need to preserve, in accordance with it, not only the personal dignity of Sasa Jankovic, but the institution of the Ombudsman, I appeal to be disclosed all other relevant documents.
By these other documents, I refer to:
a) results of the polygraph test, for Sasa Jankovic in particular, for the other two persons who were subjected to interrogation, without the personal data;
b) report on the results of paraffin test for the late PG,
c) documents containing the conclusions of conducted criminal investigation,
d) documents containing the results of review of criminal investigation.
In the interest of truth and atmosphere necessary to democratic society, I expect that the Ministry also publishes this information in the shortest possible period.
