COMMISSIONER
FOR INFORMATION OF PUBLIC IMPORTANCE AND PERSONAL DATA PROTECTION

The Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection sent today to the Serbian Government 7 requests by which he requires of the Government to act in accordance with the duties under Article 28, paragraph 4 of the Law on Free Access to Information and enforce the decisions passed by the Commissioner in acting on complaints lodged against the Public Enterprise "Srbijagas" (state-owned natural gas provider in Serbia) by which he ordered provision of the requested information of public importance.

The decisions relate to information on representation costs, donorship and sponsorship of "Srbijagas", penalties paid, salaries, per diems and other expenses, outsourcing and information and documents in connection with the conduct of tendering procedures.

Before the Commissioner addressed Government, in administrative execution of all 7 cases on request of the information requester, the Commissioner imposed fines of RSD 200,000 each or a total of RSD 1,400,000.

Since the Public Enterprise "Srbijagas" failed to comply with the orders which are binding and final under the law even after it paid the fines, the Commissioner requested from the Government enforce the decisions by direct enforcement measures in accordance with its legal duty.
