Commissioner for the Information of Public Importance Rodoljub Sabic talked today with Head of the World Bank Office in Serbia Caroline Junger and her associates about corruption in Serbia and the work of anti-corruption bodies and agencies.
“World Bank representatives believe that corruption is one of the key issues in Serbia and that it is necessary to strengthen all anti-corruption capacities. Emphasizing the importance of justice and mechanisms of repression in fighting corruption, they have also pointed out how important it is to establish mechanisms that would prevent corruption,” said Sabic.
“We absolutely agree that the transparency of work of public bodies is of key importance, as well as transparency of public finances and, naturally, the right of the public to free access to information.
'I am especially pleased that World Bank representatives support efforts of the Commissioner and the Bureau in treating the information about financial and other public material resources as information of high public importance which should be accessible to the public at all times.”
