Commissioner for Information of Public Importance, Mr. Rodoljub Sabic, has today received Ambassador Hans Ola Urstad, Head of the OSCE Mission in Serbia and his collaborators. They spoke about results achieved so far in the implementation of the Law on Free Access to Information, and about Constitutional provisions guaranteeing free access to information.
Based on that occasion, the Commissioner, Rodoljub Sabic, stated:
"The talks have confirmed the full consent regarding the evaluation of the results achieved so far, and regarding the existing problems in the implementation of the Law on Free Access to Information. Joint evaluation is that it is necessary to do much more regarding activation of the responsibility mechanism for violation of the Law and securing of implementation of the Commissioner's decisions. Also, we have acknowledged the full consent regarding quick passing and implementation of modern laws on classification of confidential data and regarding protection of personal data.
OSCE Mission has even before provided significant assistance and support in implementation of the Law on Free Access to Information of Public Importance. In some phases of the implementation of the Law, this assistance was literally precious, because without it, it would be difficult to do anything. It is very good and important that Ambassador Urstad re-confirmed today the readiness of the OSCE Mission to continue providing support in implementation of the freedom to access information in our country."
