COMMISSIONER
FOR INFORMATION OF PUBLIC IMPORTANCE AND PERSONAL DATA PROTECTION

Commissioner for Information of Public Importance evaluates that currently published Corruption Perception Index with some reasons for satisfaction gives more reasons for worry.

On that occasion, the Commissioner, Rodoljub Sabic, has stated:

„Mark 3.0 is of course better than the last year's 2.8, in the same way as the placement between the 90th-92nd place is better than the last year placement between the  97th -103rd place.

However, we have to state that we are still extremely far not only from the countries that with marks over 8.0 or even 9.0 have in the most effective way confronted corruption, but also those with 5.0 for corruption evaluation, that have decreased corruption to acceptable scope. We haven't unfortunately still stepped over 3.0, which is a critical limit, because this mark and all the lower ones point out to corruption beyond control.    For us, a list of ex-socialist countries of Europe is especially interesting. On that list we are still in the lower half with a little better marks than the worst, and with significantly lower marks than the best ones. "his is a good occasion to remind ourselves that some of them, like for instance, Slovenia, Hungary or Slovakia have achieved significant results in fight against corruption by consequential application of the right to free access to information, that is, by enabling  a wide access of public to the data relevant for using budget funds, or to the public resources in general. "hose are experiences we can not ignore, but have to respect and follow."
