In Strasbourg from 14.06. until June 16, 2023, the Council of Europe organized the 44th Plenary meeting of the Consultative Committee for the Protection of Individuals with regard to Automatic Processing of Personal Data (Convention 108), in which the representative of the Commissioner's Office, Marin Cetinić participated, Senior Advisor in the Sector for Education and Certification and deputy representative of the Republic of Serbia. The main topics of the 44th Plenary meeting were: personal data processing in the anti-money laundering/countering financing of terrorism regulation processes; first module of Model contractual clauses for transborder data flows of personal data; cooperation with other bodies of the Council of Europe, entities and observers; consideration of the jurisdiction of the European Court of Human Rights in the area of personal data protection; while Jean-Philippe Walter, Council of Europe Data Protection Commissioner, spoke about the latest development and activities in the field of data protection.
There was a particular discussion at the plenary meeting about the interpretation of Article 11 of the modernized Convention 108, as well as the biometric processing of personal data during voting, that is, how voters who vote by electronic mail are identified. At the end of the 44th plenary session, the "Stefano Rodota" awards were conferred upon the best doctoral dissertation and the best scientific article in the field of personal data protection.
