On November 8, 2023. in the organization of the Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection and SIGMA, a roundtable was held on challenges and potential solutions to the proper functioning of the system of access to public information in Serbia, in which representatives of SIGMA, the Government, Ministries of Health, Education, European Integration, Justice, and Public Administration and Local Self-Government, representatives of the judiciary and representatives of the Bar Associations of Serbia and Vojvodina.

All present agreed that in Serbia at the moment there is a widespread abuse of the right to access information of public importance and that this problem must be solved as soon as possible. All participants in the discussion from the Republic of Serbia agreed that, as one of the measures to solve the said problem, changes should be made to the Law on Free Access to Information of Public Importance and that all competent authorities must cooperate in solving this problem.
