Everyone shall be entitled to access information of public importance. On request, public authorities in possession of requested information shall grant access without delay and within 15 days at the latest. This is the wording used in the Serbian Law on Free Access to Information. Unfortunately, many cases encountered in the work of the Commissioner for Information stand as alarming evidence that this is not always respected.

It has been reaffirmed in our everyday reality as well.

The Prime Minister of Vojvodina is also asking for the information on the concession for the Horgos - Pozega motorway

Novi Sad, Belgrade - The president of the Executive Council of Vojvodina, Bojan Pajtic, is also asking for the insight into the concession agreement for the Horgos - Pozega motorway. Pajtic says that “there is nothing more natural than for the representatives of the regional authorities to have an insight into something which is happening in their region.”

BELGRADE - The Serbian Commissioner for Information of Public Importance, Rodoljub Sabic, said yesterday to Beta that the media space in Serbia “is contaminated with untruths, misinformation, half-truths” because of the lack of reliable, documented information, primarily from the authorities and about the work of the authorities. At the seminar on free access to information held in Novi Pazar, he said that by their consistent insisting on the freedom of access to information, journalists and media may give an exceptionally significant contribution to the achievement of the vitally important transition goals of the society.
