Successes, achievement and nobility
Serbia has during 2007 definitively become a country of tennis miracle, but there are numerous individuals who have by their personal efforts, achievements and nobility made our country give hope to young scientist, that some civil servants are still looking after the citizens and act impeccably, that there are people willing to care about culture and art, that the physicians first take care about patients, and then about everything else. Serbia is also a country of a fantastic swimmer who isn't born in it and does not live here, but wants to represent it for ever in Europe and in the world, of brave women-judges who took to themselves to pass judgments that men have avoided, singers representing us outside Serbian borders in the most beautiful way. Serbia is also a country of unusually humane people...Because of that, this year also, „Blic“ in its study „The Most Powerful in Serbia“ directs attention to all those who made us proud in 2007, to whose successes we truly rejoiced, and who can surely become models for ourselves. Extraordinary results in arts, culture and science are in our country still result of an enormous persistence, belief in oneself and work of an individual. Even the great humanitarian works are also tributes to individual work, we have pupils among the best in the world... To all of us, their examples show how many power had the people who believe in themselves, and they do not save their efforts even when it has to do with the others. Woman who is for years persistently, almost stubbornly fighting against corruption in the country is also glorious. They tried to intimidate her, but she wasn't afraid of politicians, financial or business centers of power. There is also a great number of magnificent people we can not even mention in this space. Our list is also missing the first and the last. Our magnificent 20 have been listed only alphabetically.
Rodoljub Sabic
Commissioner for Information of Public Importance Rodoljub Sabic tries every day to secure that the work of the Government should become more transparent, to enable seeing how the money of taxpayers is spent and if someone abuses the public functions. The Government of Serbia gives strong resistance, and so most of state institutions hide their data, starting with BIA (Security Intelligence Agency), to the public companies' managers. The only Sabic 's allies, in the job which is considered to be the European standard were so far, the media. His consistent attitude that the Concession Agreement for construction of the highway Horgoa-Pozega has to be published, and which has been hidden by Minister Velimir Ili, has been supported by the media and a major part of the Agreement has been published. Because of the battle for availability of information, Sabic received the award Person of the year 2007 granted by OSCE. In December 2004, during elections to the function of Commissioner for Information, he said: Because of the fact that this law is new, I expect, if I am to be elected, to face the problem called conservatism, which is strongly present in the governing apparatus, that is, in a huge corpus handling information. Such a mentality is dominant, due to which the employees in the administration are not always in a mood to answer the call from the citizens and to give all information . Lack of relevant information from the government is, according to Sabic , one of the reasons for chaotic status in media field which is contaminated with lack of truth, disinformation, and semi-facts . Sabic was, during the time of DOS a Minister for State Administration and Local Self Government and an official of Social-Democratic Party. He resigned from his ministerial position in summer 2003, due to as he stated lack of speed in government's reaction to scandals that burdened the work of the Government of Serbia . Before election to the function of the Commissioner, Mr. Sabic resigned from all positions in his party.
