Belgrade - Commissioner for Information Rodoljub Sabic spoke yesterday with the Commissioner for Civil Rights Protection, Mr. Sasa Jankovic, about problems and experience in protecting civil rights and modalities for future cooperation, announced Commissioner's Office.- It is important to provide legal, material, logistic and other preconditions for factual operation of Ombudsman. It would be truly bad, irresponsible and incomprehensible if unpleasant experience shared by the Information Commissioner repeated in case of Ombudsman - warned Sabic.
- Ombudsman should substantially contribute to the promotion of human rights and tackle many problems generated by irresponsibility, idleness, misuse and corruption. But, in order to do that, it is necessary for him to be provided with basic work preconditions. That is why, as a citizen and colleague, and protector of a segment in human rights, I appeal to authorities, National Parliament and the Government of the Republic of Serbia to have these preconditions provided, without delay - said Sabic.
