„JUBILEE" OF THE DOSSIER

Rodoljub Sabic, Commissioner for Information
The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe has adopted on its 23rd meeting the Resolution on Measures for Razing Heritage from the Ex-Communist Totalitarian Systems. We quote point 9 of this very important document for break-through of freedom to access information in the „prohibited zone": „The Parliamentary Assembly greets making secret services' dossiers available to the insight of the public in some of the ex-communist countries. The Assembly invites all the countries to enable to all Importanceed parties, at their request, insight into the dossiers kept in relation to them by ex-secret services."
Almost all previous socialist states have observed this appeal from the Council of Europe. Our country, unfortunately, hasn't done so. This year a decade has been completed from the adoption of the stated Resolution of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe. And six years from the fall of authoritarian regime in our country. Also three years from the acceptance of our country in the Council of Europe. In any case, much time. Each of those „jubilees" warns us that it is high time to do something of extreme importance, by passing of the law on opening the secret services' dossiers, both for the international renown of our country and for its further democratic transition.
