HC Studenica finally provided medical records to the husband of a deceased patient
Belgrade - Health Center Studenica in Kraljevo handed copies of medical records to the husband of the deceased patient Andjela Popovic, the Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection Rodoljub Sabic stated. ''Thankfully, Mr Popovic finally, managed to enforce his legal right, but it is really inconceivble that, in addition to the tragic loss he had sustained, he had to spend so much time, energy and nerves to do so'', Sabic said. ''This case is an example of how great a misapprehension of some elementary standards of democratic society there is in different structural levels of various public bodies'', Sabic stated.
In his words, the fact that they persisted in withholding information subsequent to binding Commissioner's orders ''speaks volumes of the readines to relativise the rights set under the Law on Free Accesss to Information of Public Importance, the Law on Personal Data Protection, and also the mechanisms governing protection of these rights, when possible''. HC Studenica in Kraljevo refused to second the Commissioners orders and forward reccords of the deceased patient to her husband. The HC has reffered to the interpretation of Health Inspection, stating that the Commissioner ''is extending his powers in takong upon him self to interpret laws''
